Bladee

Eyelash

Love Is A State · 2026

I wanna be in your eye like a eyelash
I wanna be on your apps like a iPad
I wanna be on your map like a island
Baby, you're broke, but I'm not and I'll finance

I liked this song as soon as I heard it due to the iPad lyric. bladee loves being hyper specific in his love songs.

More recently, I followed porceraly on Instagram. She has a bunch of acoustic & piano covers of bladee and similar artists and the covers have helped me appreciate the lyrics a lot more. The lyrics in her eyelash cover come off so sweetly (although, per her caption on the original Instagram, it is funny that Bladee is calling this person broke).

What Is It That Breaks (Oklou's Version)

Vanities (Extended) · 2026

As mentioned in other posts on this site, I love Malibu. When she released her album, Vanities, someone made a tweet comparing it to the Halo OST. That was probably meant to be derogatory but I thought it was a fair assessment of the album, which I enjoyed but I felt that it lacked the emotional resonance that most of her United In Flames mixes have.

Anyway! Malibu has a Vanities remix album coming out on November 6th and this Oklou remix has the resonance I was looking for. Sonically, all elements feel less obscured while preserving Malibu’s general “abyss-dwelling” nature. Very excited for the rest of this remix album.

Bladee

The Fool · 2021

This song has been out for several years. It's one of Bladee's best songs. I keep revisiting it for several reasons:

  1. The opening line, "There's levels to everything — Avicii" has lived rent-free in my head for years. He's eulogizing the late Swedish artist but is sort of... annoying about it? I didn't realize that's how Avcii is pronounced.

  2. The video is amazing and bizarre. Did Bladee get a soundstage for this? Was he inspired at all by Synecdoche, New York?

  3. egobaby is Bladee at his most woefully poetic:

In my heart, in my arms, be forever, baby
Eons at a time never die, never die forever
I'm in your mind if you think about me sometimes, baby

He’s trying to kill his ego, connect to someone he’s lost, and is having a mental break about it (or at least that’s how I interpret the laughing at the end of the track.)

Sleep

Another Moment in Time · 2023

Blown away by the textures and layers on this one. Reminds me of some of Steve Hauschildt's work but a touch more expansive somehow. I found this in the latest United In Flames which I just adore and I could include every single song these mixes feature on this site.

Ninajirachi

iPod Touch

I Love My Computer · 2025

It sounds like 'Loving you is easy but they boosted the bass'

I’m late to Ninajirachi but the above lyric has been rattling around my head for the better part of the week. I didn’t know or care about the Porter Robinson song it references but I’ve never had a lyric so quickly take mentally take me to searching YouTube for nightcore remixes and chopped and screwed edits and trawling soundcloud for funny versions of songs I love.

I view iPod Touch as a spiritual successor to Kero Kero Bonito's I Heard A Song. Both are about having a banger stuck in your head that you're trying so hard to get out.

BA

QRÖMELIFE · 2026

BA stands for Bernard Arnault. Pharrell produced it, obviously. I love noticing a good LVMH tie-in. I wonder how BA feels about this.

edit: I noticed Pitchfork gave this album a 3.3 and cited the brand tie-ins for a part of its corniness. I'm a sucker for mid Pharrell production. While not officially credited on the track, I blame Pharrell for this Nigo ft. A$AP Rocky song from a couple years back. It's also kinda mid. (The first line is "Humanmade on me like P!!" and Pharrell's in the music video!)
